It really does not matter what your symptoms are, we find the cause. Your headache, stomach ache, constipation, low back pain, tennis elbow, colic, ear infection, plantar facitis, sciatica, (you fill in the blank) are all symptoms.
Something caused your headache, sciatica, or your carpal tunnel pain. Finding out what caused it and fixing it is what we do best, using a large toolbox of natural treatments, no drugs or surgery.
Chiropractic Care
We provide proven spinal correction utilizing "classical" chiropractic techniques. Our diagnostic and correction methods are the safest, more comfortable and more effective than many others.
Dr. Richard Wirtanen and Dr. Jason Brown have years of training, experience and success in correcting our patients' healthcare issues.
Chiropractic techniques used in the office include: Kale knee chest, Palmer knee chest, Diversified, Gonstead, Instrument adjusting, and Logan Basic. These techniques allow a wide variability in the types of adjustments. This is sort of like giving you a choice from breakfast blend to double shot expresso coffee.
Manual Therapy
The Reston Healing Center offers a unique acute manual therapy protocols that address the initial stages of care for most Neurological Musculo Skeletal Dis-Eases. It offers a natural conservative treatment approach that relieves dis-eases for many patients.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy offers a natural conservative treatment approach that relieves dis-ease. Our office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is tailored to meet the patient's discomfort. Our therapists work in harmony with a doctor and clinic director, a team of certified professionals working with you.
Accidents
Accidents happen every day and sometimes, you, or someone you know, unfortunately, may experience one.
These include, but are not limited to falls, car accidents, bicycle, dogs pulling your arm, and the latest craze, getting hit by a wave at the beach, and of course, sports injuries.
When we ask our patients if they had been in an accident, most say, NO. Why? Because most people associate an accident as an unintended incident that lands them in a hospital or Emergency Room.
Survivable accidents fall in to two categories:
- 1. You are hospitalized. This is serious and your MD knows best what to do. After the MD releases you, it is time to see the chiropractor.
2. You go to the ER and you are released. Immediately see a chiropractor.
Our doctors are trained to properly assess you once you experience a trauma that causes you pain, but there are no broken bones. We will do our best to get you back to the bike trail, soccer field, the beach, and what ever activity you were doing, continue with your goals, and to restore your quality of life.
If you had a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), we advise you to contact us as soon as possible for a consultation. Delaying treatment for an MVA is not advised.

Custom Orthotics
If you’re experiencing pain in your feet, knees, legs, and/or back as a result of wearing shoes with little to no support, custom foot orthotics may be right for you!
Custom foot orthotics are designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look similar to insoles, but are biomedical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot while you walk. We understand that everyone is different, which is why custom foot orthotics are made just for you.
X-Rays
One of the most important elements of chiropractic care is diagnostics. Chiropractic radiology is a tool utilized in care as a diagnostic practice to rule out pathology (such as possible tumor or fracture) and/or an additional aid to determine where to adjust the spine. Chiropractors rely on a variety of diagnostic techniques in order to fully understand what is occurring in the patient’s musculoskeletal system, and how a given treatment intervention could bring about positive results in each patient.
Because chiropractic care uses spinal manipulation and other techniques that involve movement of skeletal components with the hands or with the use of the instrument, an X-ray can show a chiropractor exactly what is happening in the body in terms of alignment and structure.
As a general guideline, X-rays are recommended in the following cases:
- If the patient has sustained a significant traumatic injury, as a bone may be broken or a joint may be dislocated
- If an infection may be causing the patient's pain
- If any significant disease is suspected, such as cancer or a possible tumor
- If any type of joint disease is suspected, such as arthritis causing joint pain
- If the patient is over age 50 and has experienced any type of trauma (even a minor one)
- For most patients over 65 years of age
- Anyone who has been diagnosed with or who may be at risk for osteoporosis.
- The X-ray may be important to identify or rule out a possible vertebral fracture from osteoporosis.
- Any suspected spinal instability
- If the patient has had long-standing pain that has not responded to or resolved with previous health care treatment
During your appointment, we will determine whether or not x-rays are necessary.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesiology Taping is a precise rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. This technique allows the body’s normal range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting.
Kinesio tape is latex-free and hypoallergenic which makes it “skin friendly” for patients with sensitive or fragile skin such as patients with diabetes, fibromyalgia or rheumatoid arthritis. You can wear it for multiple days at a time. Because it is heat-activated, you can even wear it in the shower or pool without it peeling off. It is safe for patients of multiple age groups ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and it successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. Kinesiology Taping is a therapeutic taping technique that not only offers patients the support they are looking for, but also provides rehabilitation. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, kinesiology tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.
